Faire danse
Between autumn 2024 and spring 2025, Pierre-Benjamin Nantel proposed an original device for presence and encounter, aimed at creating unique choreographic proposals specifically addressed to one person at a time.
Users of the space (which serves as a cultural center, cinema, toy library, and media library) were invited, if they wished, to a recorded interview with the choreographer. A series of 7 questions were asked. Following this exchange, the artist offered the participant an appointment to present a choreography specifically designed in connection with their meeting. The framework, sound creation, and movements were each time unique and tailored.
In total, 21 original solos were created this way. The various frameworks and interview excerpts were compiled into an edition.
This project will continue in 2026 with the creation of a public choreography residency. Similar to a public writer, users of the space will once again be able to have interviews, but this time, their answers will serve as the raw material for creating a dance specifically addressed to a person of their choice.
