Pierre-Benjamin Nantel, choreographer and performer, lives and works in Aubervilliers. After training in the Exerce Master’s program at ICI-CCN Montpellier (2015–2017) and the FAI-AR (Advanced Art Training in Public Space) in Marseille (2021–2023), he was supported in delegated production by Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers in 2024, and by Boom Structur-CDCN in 2025.
Having practiced as a dentist for a decade, his research revolves around the notions of care, framework, context, and specific address. In other words: How might a shared experience of the choreographic act itself become an archive—of a place, a relationship, or relationships to places?
In 2024, during a long-term residency at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, he founded the Agence de chorégraphie de proximité (Local Choreography Agency), offering intimate, site-specific performances in public spaces. These works engage with the everyday choreography of their locations through fleeting, recurring presences, blending physical and geographical proximity. Performances are available by appointment, on demand, operating on a short-circuit principle between performers and audiences.
This concept has since expanded through other artists, each working from their own living spaces and personal research, via a transmission protocol. To date, various proximity choreographies have been co-created in this way and are regularly performed in Brussels, Pantin, Montreuil, Clermont-Ferrand, Mantes-la-Jolie, Aubervilliers, and Le Pré-Saint-Gervais. Others are currently in preparation.
In 2025, he won the Nos Lieux communs open call for Paysage caviardé, a choreographic road trip co-created with author and performer Olga Mathey.
On January 15, 2026, to mark the two-year anniversary of the Proximity Choreography Agency at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, he established Unevent, a 1901-law association based in Aubervilliers, through which he develops his future projects
