The Balance of Humors
The Balance of Humors is a choreographic and sound duo born from the encounter between Pierre-Benjamin Nantel and sound artist Octave Courtin. In this piece, they continue their collaboration, which began with the piece Parrhésia.
In this new collaboration, a set of electro-acoustic objects present on stage are activated by the performers. This creates a relationship of interdependence between the device to be manipulated, a body destined to activate it, and a body that questions it. This performative moment offers an immersive experience where ways of envisioning care, therapy, and freedom intertwine within an ambiguous relationship of manipulator and manipulated.
How can one emancipate from a system, whether its existence is tangible, physical, or internal?
The Balance of Humors, by referencing the ancient Western holistic medical theory of humors, seeks to open a reflection on the articulation between the sensory and the technical, the poetic and the technological in our interpersonal relationships.
